Indeed. I think it’s time the term ‘old maid’ retired. But it’s interesting from an historical perspective.

Of course some of those so-called old maids lived in what was called “Boston Marriages” rather than pining away in the shadows. Thank goodness today women have many more choices – and No OLD MAID Day celebrations thankyou.
